SHPE/CDM Scholars
DEADLINE: Postmarked by February 1.
¡Empieza a construir tu carrera hoy! -- It's all About YOU! You're shaping your career. You want an organization that offers fresh challenges, a variety of opportunities, and continuous learning. You want your talents and intelligence to make a difference on this planet – to help dream, design, and build a better world. And you want to work with some of the best professionals in the industry. CDM is a global, full-service consulting, engineering, construction, and operations firm helping public and private clients improve the environment and infrastructure through award-winning projects.
CDM and its subsidiaries, CDM Federal Programs Corporation and CDM Constructors Inc in partnership with the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Inc. (SHPE) Advancing Hispanic Excellence in Technology, Engineering, Math, and Science (AHETEMS) have established a scholarship/internship program for a SHPE student who has a 3.0 grade point average or better and who is majoring in a engineering, science, or construction discipline, such as environmental, chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical, structural, and geotechnical, or will be pursuing a master's degree in the fall in one of the aforementioned disciplines.
Program components include a paid summer internship, mentorship, and scholarship for the ensuing academic year or first-year master's program.
Students will be selected by CDM. The internship will consist of a summer work program, during which the selected students will have the opportunity to work on a number of engineering projects at a CDM office. The key to this concept will be CDM's assignment of a mentor to the student. During the summer, in addition to working closely together, mentors and scholars will spend informal time together participating in recreational and cultural activities to help build the relationship that will endure through the scholars' college career and beyond. After the successful completion of the internship, participants will receive a scholarship to help cover expenses for the next academic year.
A maximum $2,000 housing and living reimbursement is available. Students will intern at CDM offices, based on the availability of appropriate CDM assignments. After the successful completion of the internship, participants will receive a $6,000 scholarship for the next academic year.
