AHETEMS - Advancing Hispanic Excellence in Technology, Engineering, Math and Science

AHETEMS Teacher Program

AHETEMS Teacher Program

The AHETEMS Teacher Program is a two-day program for 100 middle school and high school science and math teachers, who teach in predominant Hispanic-serving schools. This in-service training provides teachers with the resources and strategies needed to successfully connect Hispanic students to science and mathematics curriculum through the application of culturally competent and innovative techniques. Hands-on workshops and supplementary educational materials are presented. The materials presented reflect national teaching standards in math and science and provide teachers the opportunity to receive professional development credits. (Teachers are encouraged to check with their school district policies in regard to receiving credits).

Teachers will also have the opportunity to browse through the SHPE Career Fair and visit with over 200 companies and graduate programs to learn about the latest technologies in science and enginering and collect resources for their classrooms.
